Dr Alex Polyakov, East Melbourne, VIC

After graduating from the University of Adelaide in 2000, Alex completed his internship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital before moving to Melbourne to start his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

He trained at various hospitals, including Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital and Box Hill Hospital, and completed formal fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Reproductive Biology Unit of The Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne IVF and Monash IVF. His mentors include pioneers in diverse areas of women’s health including A/Prof John McBain, Dr Mark Lawrence, Dr Andrew Spiers, Prof Beverly Vollenhoven, and Dr Michael Gronow among others.

Dr Polyakov has earned his reputation as a highly regarded Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon. He is one of the very few specialists in Melbourne who performs majority of gynaecological and fertility-related procedures including myomectomies (removal of fibroids) and hysterectomies (removal of uterus) via minimally invasive laparoscopic (“keyhole”) surgery.

In addition, Dr Polyakov is a leading specialist in Microsurgery, which includes Tubal Ligation Reversal and Vasectomy Reversal operations. He also specialises in Andrology, which caters to male causes of infertility such as abnormal sperm count.
