Design Joinery & Doors originated operations in 1980 when Leon Maddeford and Bob Williams opened Design Joinery. A year later they were joined in their Wingfield shed by Paul Maddeford who started producing solid timber cabinet doors for sale to the trade. As production and staff members of both businesses increased it was necessary to relocate the "door" section to its own shed in Kilkenny. In 1984 the combined strength of both companies made it possible for them to purchase their own dual-purpose premises in Athol Park and with this a change of name to Design Joinery & Doors Pty Ltd. Over the next few years as both businesses flourished a decision was made by the Directors to close the cabinetmaking section to avoid any conflict of interest with the valued clients of the doors section. In 2007 Leon Maddeford retired and Bruce Mcneill the production manager of 25 years became a Director. Today Design Joinery & Doors is a supplier to leading kitchen manufacturers and quality cabinet makers across South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
