Citizen Advocacy is an unusual name. When we talk about it, we often find ourselves saying what it isn't. It isn't part of the government bureaucracy. It isn't a church or political group, and it isn't a complaints service.

What we are is a group of local people who care about and value other people in the community. We believe it is wrong that people who have a disability are treated badly and with less value than others. We particularly focus on those members of the community who have a disability, who are often neglected, vulnerable and alone and who need someone to speak up for them and represent their interests. We respond to this neglect, vulnerability and loneliness by encouraging and supporting ordinary members of the community, caring and responsible citizens, who are prepared to act in an unpaid capacity, to make a positive difference in the life of a person with a disability.
