The first VB was brewed in 1854, with the namesake Carlton Brewery established a decade later.

In response to the long economic recession in Australia at the turn of the century, the Foster’s Brewing Company and Carlton Brewery amalgamated with four other breweries to form Carlton and United Breweries (CUB) in 1907.
CUB is an icon as Australia’s largest brewer and producer of favourite beer brands including VB, Carlton Draught, Pure Blonde, Carlton Mid, Crown Lager and Cold and craft beers from the brewers, Matilda Bay and Cascade.
CUB also operates breweries in Fiji and Samoa and is the largest brewer in the Pacific Islands, brewing Fiji and Samoa’s favourite beers, Fiji Bitter and Vailima, as well as
28 other labels sold in over 15 countries
