Tucked behind Little Collins Street and next to the Melbourne Town Hall, this welcoming, laneway space is reminiscent of a softly-lit, Parisian night spot, decorated with a blend of European furnishings and retro-chic decor. Kath Camfield and Alan Bell established Cabinet Bar in 2007 to create an exclusive place, cherished by "those in the know", and you will often find regulars amongst the after work crowd, travellers and local explorers as well. You will find tables for two, comfy sofas and tables to share. It is the perfect venue for a quick meet up, a meal before a show or a cruisy Sunday session. The balcony has wonderful views over Swanston Street down to the Yarra, with passers-by below oblivious to the activity above them. Blackboard menus direct you to the seasonal selection of snacks, cheese, flatbreads and share-style plates, which can be ordered to nibble as you drink, or make it something more substantial for lunch or dinner, 7 days a week.
