CIE was founded by Tony Cristaudo in 1996. Tony is Australian born and bred: he grew up in the Mount Isa area and began his mining career as an underground electrician. In the early 90’s, Tony quickly realised that there was a real need for high-quality customs switch-panels and protection equipment specifically for the metalliferous mining industry. With the help of some very good friends, his ever-supportive family, with long hours of hard graft and longer hours of searching out those clients who needed his products, CIE was born. Two decades on, and CIE is still Australian, but now based in Cairns, Queensland. CIE has always believed in being true to its roots by manufacturing the best switchboards available in the market. Tony's vision though, was always to offer more; so now CIE also produces substations, pumping stations and all ancillary electrical control and protection equipment needed in metalliferous mining companies and electrical and industrial corporations. CIE supply across Australia, but have now expanded their base of operations to export Australian technology to Indonesia, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea and several Middle Eastern countries—all to the same exacting standards. CIE is now also proud to operate a substantial hire equipment division that specialises in diesel power generation, substations and switchboards and mobile lighting. Quality, care and service, which made CIE successful from the outset, are still the cornerstone of today's world-beating operation.
