The Bennett Group was formed by Campbell Bennett in 1990. At this time the then Big 8 Accounting Firms had started the merger activity that lead to today’s big 4. Cam left Touche Ross (now KPMG) at this time to create the firm. Leeanne Summers also joined The Bennett Group in 1990 having worked closely with Cam and his clients at both Duesburys (now Deloitte) and Touche Ross. The new group started with a very positive feeling. The Bennett Group developed a strength and depth which enabled the provision of quality and professional services to our clients. On 2nd April 2012, David Gibbs, a seasoned Chartered Accountant, acquired the practice as part of a planned succession process. Leeanne continues as a practice principal of The Bennett Group. Cam is now a full-time consultant to the practice and David’s brother Bryan Gibbs, a Chartered Accountant, is also a consultant. At The Bennett Group, our clients are the most important people in the office. Clients are the reason for our existence and service to our clients is paramount. We are a relatively small team, without large firm overheads, ensuring that our client needs are the primary focus. We are always available to our clients and phone calls or emails are returned the same day whenever possible. Our level of expertise is not lessened by our size. Ongoing and regular training sessions are held to keep ourselves up to date on taxation and other changes, and visiting experts are used in “non-traditional” accounting areas to maintain our specific fields of expertise.
