VenaSeal and other adhesives is an advanced new treatment for venous insufficiency. It works by delivering a precise amount of medical adhesive to the diseased vein, sealing it off and rerouting the blood to other healthy nearby veins. The VenaSeal system predominantly targets the great saphenous vein and its branches.
ClariVein® is a non-surgical treatment for varicose veins. It uses a special thin infusion catheter with a wire tip that rotates 360 degrees to deliver sclerosant directly into the vein wall.
Sclerotherapy for varicose veins is a minimally invasive procedure to treat small varicose veins. It focuses on closing damaged veins by injecting them with a sclerosing agent while guided by ultrasound imagery. Once injected, the pharmaceutical solution irritates the lining of the vein walls, causing them to close and stop blood from flowing through. As the body heals, it reroutes blood flow to other normally functioning veins and absorbs the treated vein.
Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive procedure for treating varicose veins. Our doctors insert a thin RFA fibre into the vein which heats it and seals it shut, stopping blood flow. Over time, your body will absorb the vein. During RFA treatment, the fibre lets out radiofrequency energy in 20-second bursts directly into the vein. Rather than clotting the blood, the energy targets the collagen in the vein wall, making it shrink. You should not be able to feel this happening.
Endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) is a minimally invasive laser treatment for varicose veins. During the procedure, we make a tiny incision and feed a thin laser fibre into the vein. As we use regional anaesthetic, you should not be able to feel this happening. Over time, the varicose vein fades, and your body will reroute blood flow through other healthy blood vessels.
