The Grid Shaped Surface Washer is presently the best safety device against loosening of nuts and screws through vibration. The grids, which are engraved into the washer, are Z shaped and have the ability to lock in both directions. The conic or Belleville shape of the washer provides additional security when fastened. Other methods just achieve part of the security of the Grid Shaped Surface Washer. Tests have been made on several occasions with always excellent results.

Disc springs are shallow conical rings that can be subjected to axial loads (s. Fig.). Normally the ring thickness is constant. The load is evenly distributed over the upper inside and lower outside edge.
