The first step is a thorough and comprehensive hearing test with a full history taken as there are many environmental aspects to tinnitus. A full understanding of your background and lifestyle is required to offer appropriate management. Book your hearing test now.

Hearing aids are no the longer the large squealing devices they once were. Today’s hearing aids are small and discreet with feedback (squealing/whistling) a thing of the past. There are a large number of hearing aids on the market. One of the benefits of being an independent Audiology Clinic is that Echuca Moama Hearing can provide hearing aids from a large range of manufacturers, we are not owned by a manufacturer like some of the larger chain clinics. Hearing aids can be paired with your smart phone so that your conversation is streamed directly to your ears. There are no extra devices so this does not cost you more. There are wireless devices that stream from your TV to your hearing aids (no more cranky house members) and remote microphones to eliminate even more background noise if you are still having trouble. Whatever your hearing difficulties there is a solution for you. Come in and discuss a hearing aid trial that fits your budget. Pensioners and DVA card holders are eligible for free hearing aids through the Commonwealth Government’s Hearing Services Program. All clients have a 6-week trial period so if you are not happy with the fitting your money will be reimbursed.
Wax is a natural substance produced by the ear canal to protect it. Sometimes however wax can become a problem when too much is produced and the ear becomes blocked or painful. Syringing using water can cause more problems as it can create an unhealthy environment and promote bacterial and fungal growth. If you have a perforation in your ear drum (tympanic membrane) you should never get water in your ears. At Echuca Moama Hearing we use micro suction and or curettage techniques, safe and effective methods of wax removal performed under direct vision. Tina is trained in wax removal and will refer on if your ears require medical treatment. She will also give you some management advice to minimise wax impaction. Should you use wax softening agents before your appointment? If you have used them before and know you do not have a hole in your eardrum it should be safe however if you are unsure it is better that Tina assess your ear before putting anything in them. If the wax is very hard and impacted she may ask you to use drops for a week prior to coming back for safe removal.
