Our advanced digital radiography machine allows us to take rapid, high-quality x-rays to help us diagnose diseases in your pets, particularly for conditions involving bones, the chest or abdomen. Ultrasonography is increasingly being used as an effective diagnostic tool to evaluate the internal organs of patients. It is non-invasive and can often be performed without sedation. We have in house ultrasonography, and we also utilise the services of Dr Jarrad Chromow of Perth Veterinary Imaging.

Regular dental care is essential for keeping your pet healthy and happy. Dental disease is a common issue among household pets that can lead to serious health problems if left untreated. Dental tartar is a source of infection and the cause of bad breath in your pet. This can become painful and will progress to tooth loss. Dental procedures are done under general anaesthesia so we can ultrasonically scale the inside and outside of the teeth as well as beneath the gum line. After your pets’ teeth have been thoroughly cleaned they are then polished to reduce tartar build up in the future.

At Challenger Veterinary Hospital we routinely perform desexing and a vast array of soft tissue surgeries such as exploratory laparotomies, caesareans, tumour and lump removals, biopsies, wound stitch-ups etc. For advanced surgeries such as orthopaedic procedure like TPLO Cruciate Repair surgery we utilise the expert services of Dr Ewen Blaikie from Small Animal Orthopaedics. Whatever procedure your pet is having we try to make it as safe, stress-free and positive an experience as possible for everyone involved.

We can't wait to meet you and your new puppy! Puppy Pre School gives your puppy the very best start in life and the opportunity to grow into a well behaved, sociable dog. Classes are designed for puppies between 6 to 12 weeks of age, as it is much easier to teach a puppy the correct behaviour at this young age than it is to correct bad behaviour later in life.

Whether your pet needs a vaccination, heartworm injection, microchip or wing clip, appointments are available for routine treatments 7 days a week. We are happy to treat all family pets and, where possible, will make sure you see the same vet every time. By briefly discussing your pet’s problem on booking, we can allocate a suitable time slot to allow a thorough examination and assessment of your pet, as well as a discussion about any issues of concern and the appropriate treatment options. We run our consultations by appointment, but urgent cases will always be accommodated and prioritised.
