Restricted keys are basically keys that are unable to be copied without your permission. This is achieved by a strict market process restricting their distribution to approved locksmiths who must in turn abide by written conditions regarding the distribution of those keys. Restricted key systems are used widely in businesses and other organisations where it is desirable to account for every key, as well as being sure of unauthorised copies not being made. Master keying becomes part of a restricted key system where different individuals are given various levels of access within a given building or organisation.
