Danes Jakob and Michael Gamborg knew that Scandanavian design was the future of Australian kitchens when they settled in Sydney in the late 1980s. The Gamborg brothers had noticed a gap in the industry between what was being produced locally and the quality and attention to detail they were accustomed to in fashion-forward Copenhagen. So, with complementary skills and expertise they founded DK Design Kitchens in 1995, starting with a showroom in Brookvale on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Jakob takes responsibility for the showrooms, products and design; while Michael runs the business operations, site management, finance and administration. It didn’t take long for the Gamborgs’ ‘Scandi design’ – modern materials, superior craftsmanship and functionality – to make its mark. The concept of what Sydneysiders desired in a kitchen evolved as the Gamborgs gained more and more of a foothold with their innovative design. Scandi design has since exploded in popularity, and the Gamborg brothers – through DK Design Kitchens – are the pioneers and patriarchs in that space. 
DK Design Kitchens receives praise for excellent design, communication, and after-sales service from numerous customers. Some express satisfaction with the quality of materials and installation.
