Officially opened in 1935, the stately Box Hill Town Hall is considered to be the City of Whitehorse’s historic landmark building. The Town Hall’s neo-classical façade is the entrance point to an art deco style foyer, a grand Main Hall, a number of meeting rooms and the popular Whitehorse Artspace. As well as offering a range of rooms for hire, the Town Hall is home to one of Whitehorse City Council’s three customer service centres which assists residents and visitors with a range of enquiries. Within the Box Hill Town Hall, Whitehorse Artspace gallery includes paintings by Australian Impressionists and artwork by leading contemporary artists. Exhibitions are held throughout the year and entry is free. History buffs can take a guided tour of the Town Hall and discover more about the building’s origins. Now often used for scenes in local television drama shows, the Town Hall conveys a sense of grandeur.
