The Mallee Fowl Restaurant is owned and operated by Chef Caryl Michael. Caryl, and her husband Howard, along with a mate, built the restaurant and surrounding structures from scratch on their property which they had appropriately named ‘Ardyakka Park’. Having a vision almost twenty years ago of making it one of the best in Australia – with a lot of creativity and hard work, they have succeeded. As well as the restaurant, Caryl designed and built the large amphitheatre, complete with stage, alongside the restaurant. “Howard wasn’t well for some time and I was determined to complete it, ” Caryl says. “Although it took a couple of years laying it stone by stone, I eventually managed to finish it.” The amphitheatre is used for outside events and is an ideal entertainment centre for parties and country and western events. The Mallee Fowl Restaurant is a quirky and charming café in Berri, known for its warm atmosphere, delicious food, and eclectic Australiana decor. Visitors rave about the excellent service and the variety of animals on the property, including alpacas, goats, emus, and more. Vegetarian options are available. The food, which includes vegetarian options and locally sourced ingredients, is highly praised, with many mentioning the tender and perfectly cooked steaks and the delicious kangaroo medallions. The restaurant is kid-friendly, with children enjoying the opportunity to say hello to the animals. Parking is readily available on the property.
